How did we get here?
Did you graduate college and wonder, “what’s next?”
We definitely did. Like any college graduate we had hopes and dreams of what we wanted to do but not quite sure how to get there. We were both working similar jobs in an office setting knowing that we did not want to stay there long-term.
We knew we wanted our work to be something we were passionate about and to be making a difference in the community around us.
We both knew we needed to make a change and that is where the idea of opening up a vegan café came from. Karisa has always dreamed of opening up a vegan café and creating a community around the food she loves. In a way I did too. I worked at a Juice Bar during college and I loved everything about it. I loved sharing my favorite menu options with customers, and seeing how plant-based food was changing their lives. We are both passionate about food and health, and even more passionate about sharing it with the people around us. When we connected on that, I knew we were going to be best friends.
Karisa called me one day and mentioned the idea of opening up a vegan café. She sounded so excited and hopeful. I knew she was serious about this endeavor and would make it happen. Now, I am going to be real with you. As her best friend I supported her but I thought to myself “there is no way I am joining her”.
We have taken several trips together and love going to new vegan restaurants, trying out their food/drinks and have made many memories at different restaurants. We actually plan our trips around the food we are going to eat. I am not joking, food for us is one of the most important parts of a trip. One spring we took a trip to Puerto Rico and went to these smoothie/juice stands and vegan food trucks. We would joke about moving somewhere tropical and opening up our own someday. I had no idea someday would come so soon.

Fast-forward a couple months and I ended up joining her. I am glad Karisa kept bringing up the idea, helped me see the vision, and pushed me to pursue this dream with her. She made me realize that anything is possible and that together we could bring this idea to life. You need people like that in your life. We are both so excited to be doing this together and to share our food, and vision with you.
